About Us

Growing up, my love was horses and I showed in hunters and jumpers throughout my childhood and into college. Showing horses competitively taught me the importance and challenge of understanding conformation and movement, and perhaps more importantly the joy that comes from successfully communicating with animals. Dog showing provides me with similar pleasures and challenges.

My sister introduced me to the world of dog shows when she purchased her first bullmastiff puppy in 1994 and she continues to help educate me about the dog show world. After years of searching I finally located a French Bulldog puppy with a nice pedigree to be my first show dog. The aspects that make Frenchies so adorable also make them ill-suited for outdoor activities like going to the barn, hiking and other things I enjoy. So when the time came to get another dog, I looked for a breed that could be an active part of my life. Pointers were the natural choice for me.

To me, Pointers are beauty in motion. Whether running around the backyard or hunting, they exude grace. Then in 2003 at a dog show in Tennessee, I met Star (Ch. Amazona Penpoint Lone Star). Star has a personality that will turn everyone into a pointer lover- friendly, attentive and aiming to please. And luckily for me, Star's breeder Lee Ann Stagg was planning a repeat breeding of Star's parents – Ch. Pamelot's Easy Does It JH and Ch. Coralwood's Sultan of Swat.

From that repeat breeding, I received Abby (CH. Penpoint Sagir Abilene), my first Pointer. I could not have hoped for a nicer dog. At Abby's first show weekend- the Pointer Club of Canada National, she went Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes, Best Puppy and Reserve Winners and she was barely 6 months old. She finished quickly with points under breeder judges, including a Best of Winners at the Maryland Sporting Dog Show and has retired to a life of leisure on the couch.

I co-bred with Lee Ann Stagg and my sister, Christine Rasmussen, my first litter of Pointer puppies in early 2007, after Abby passed her health clearances. I plan on breeding Abby one more time with in the next few months. If you are interested in a puppy, please contact me.

I am a member of the American Pointer Club, the Upper Midwest Pointer Club, the Pointer Club of Canada and the French Bull Dog Club of America. I volunteer with the French Bulldog Rescue Network and was a foster parent with the Humane Society of Montgomery County before moving to Brandywine , Maryland.
